Crochet Shrug

Crocheting is a skill I learned when I was in 5th Grade. It is a process of creating fabric by interlocking loops of yarn or thread using a crochet hook. Crochet is different from knitting (although I also want to learn how to knit). The salient difference between the two is that each stitch in crochet is completed before proceeding with the next one, while knitting keeps a large number of stitches open at a time.

In later part of November, I started a shrug project. I initially thought of making a bag. However, I thought I should try something else since I already have two crochet bags. I checked for tutorials on youtube and found something (I think) easy to follow.

It took me a few hours to work on the first part. I had to rewind the video again and again so I could understand the instruction from the lady whose accent is somewhat thick. After a few hours I was able to make a long lace that would serve as the armhole of my project.

In about two weeks I was able to complete the first half of my shrug. I was so ecstatic because I thought I was a bit fast compared to my phase when working on my bag projects (which took me months to complete). I kept working during my free time. I normally would work for a couple of hours and take a break afterwards since I had relax my fingers. Besides I had other things to do. It was almost complete a week the holidays. However, I became so busy that I could only spend half an hour each day until the project was completed. So when I finally finished it, I could not help but brag about  it to my mother who thought my project was nice. Yay! feel accomplished.

Tadah!!! Here is my final output.
